Saturday in NZ

Today was a lovely day. I woke up, had breakfast, and Elinor went to gym class. When she got back, her mom, Sacha, and I packed a picnic lunch. Sacha, Elinor, and I headed off around the coast. Sacha drove us all the way around the cost, giving me a tour the whole way. She pointed out things I would have never seen from a bus. We stopped multiple places, and later in the afternoon stopped on a beach for lunch. Elinor was absolutely intrigued be EVERYTHING. She found a dead crab, eggs, shells, and everything else possible. She even came to us eating seaweed, but we had to explain that probably wasn't the best idea.

After, they took me to one of their favorite places...the bird Sanctuary. They are members all year round, but I paid for my ticket, and it was worth it. New Zealand does not naturally have mammals. So, many years ago there was nothing preying on the birds. Once people started bringing cats, dogs, pigs, and many other mammals to New Zealand the native birds were having problems. The bird sanctuary was built to keep the unnatural animals away from the native birds, and create a wild life preserve for people to come to, and see how beautiful they are. You could spend days there, but we only hiked for a few hours.

We ate dinner, and now I am showered, clean, and ready for bed. Check out some of the pictures!
