Sydney

I've made it to Sydney, Australia. I am sitting here in the airport. It was quite an interesting flight, and not half as bad as I expected. You get on the flight, get up in the air, they give you dinner, take away the trash, and shortly after the lights go off and pretty much everyone goes to sleep. It was so cool. People were just roaming around in their socks, taking strolls, doing whatever. It just seemed liked everyone knew what they were in for and ready to relax. 2 hours before landing they wake you up, give you breakfast, and then you're almost there.

Aunt Sue's present to me was to buy me some extra legroom. So I was upgraded to a seat right by the exit where NOTHING was in front of me! I had a ton of room with the bathroom right there too. Many middle seats were empty. I sat next to a guy from New Zealand who had grown up there. He was going to Auckland. He had just spent four months in the US traveling and teaching at a tennis camp. His dad also takes wwoofers in nz.

There was also a guy diagonal from me. He was from LA. He and 9 of his buddies played rugby together in school, and were headed to NZ to see if they could pick up some tickets for the World Cup. They had rented a bunch of small camper things, and were headed on an adventure. He also knew about wwoofing, and had done it in Argentina. I ended up meeting him and all his other rugby player friends. They invited me to stay with them for a while before wwoofing since they had so many campers. However, I declined.

I got off the plane, and had to go through a smaller form of security again. That is where I met an older guy headed to Wellington on my flight. He is also from New Zealand. It was not clear at all where to find the transfer desk, so we roamed around together for a while. Finally, we found where our new gate is. Then he set off to get coffee, I got some hot chocolate, and will soon be heading to my gate for my next flight.

Already things have been crazy. It seems like there were a bunch of young weird adventurers headed all over the place just like me....or coming back from one. All the 25 and younger people I chatted with on the flight new about wwoofing. Most people have to ask twice because they have no idea what I'm talking about...so it was cool to see other people on a similar track.

All I have seen of Australia is ocean, waves, water and some cliffs I think. Too bad I won't get to really visit.

That's all for now. Hopefully all goes well going to NZ
